Quality education in one of the world's safest countries

How the NZ student visa works

The Fee Paying Student visa lets you study full time with an approved education provider in New Zealand. You need an offer of place, proof of tuition payment, enough funds for living costs and a plan for onward travel.

Choosing your study city

Auckland is the largest city with many universities and colleges. Wellington offers a government and creative hub, Christchurch is strong in engineering and construction, while Hamilton, Dunedin and Palmerston North offer lower living costs and strong academic programmes.

Work rights and family

Many students can work part time during study and full time in scheduled holidays. Partners of students at certain qualification levels may get work visas, and dependent children may attend school, depending on your course.
