The six point requirement
The SMC requires six points. Points come from one skill indicator: occupational registration, a recognised qualification, or income at a multiple of the median wage. Points for skilled work in New Zealand can make up the difference.
Skilled job requirement
You need a skilled job or job offer with an accredited employer that meets pay requirements. Workers in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and regional areas can all qualify if they meet the criteria.
Other requirements
Applicants must meet age, health, character and English language requirements. Evidence of qualifications, registration and income must be strong and consistent across all documents.
