Why the GS requirement matters
The Genuine Student requirement replaced the older GTE test and asks whether you truly intend to study in Australia. Officers look at your circumstances, study history, course choice and future plans. Weak or copied answers are one of the most common reasons for student visa refusals in recent years.
What officers want to see
Officers want a logical story. Explain your current situation, why this course and provider suit you, why Australia rather than your home country, and what the qualification will do for your future. Each claim should be supported by documents such as transcripts, employment letters and offers.
Common mistakes to avoid
Avoid generic paragraphs, unexplained study gaps, choosing a lower level course than you already hold without reason, and inconsistent financial evidence. Students applying for campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or regional areas should also explain why that location fits their plans.
