New Zealand's main temporary work visa

Three steps of the AEWV

The AEWV process has three steps. First, the employer gets accredited. Second, the employer completes a job check for the role where required. Third, the worker applies for the visa after receiving a job offer.

Pay and job requirements

Roles must meet pay requirements and genuine employment standards. Employers in Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton and Tauranga must show they offer fair terms and comply with New Zealand employment laws.

Families and residence

Depending on your role and pay, your partner may get a work or visitor visa and your children can usually attend school. The AEWV can also be a stepping stone to Green List or Skilled Migrant Category residence.
